Sherbet!

Rooms 14 and 15 began their study in kitchen chemistry by making sherbet.

We found out what happens when we added too much citric acid!

Even though it was sometimes sour we also found out that we love sherbet!

And what causes the chemical reaction in sherbet?  We'll find out later!

Supermarket Trip

Thursday was the day for Te Whanau o Pohutukawa to visit the supermarket. We had already had a visit from a wonderful nutritionist, Marewa, and had learnt all about reading labels to find out which foods were healthiest.  Each class spent 45 minutes comparing the labels on everyday food items and counting the colours of different fruits and vegetables.

It was very educational! A member of the public, who was doing her own shopping, changed the brand of cereal she put in her trolley when she heard what our students were saying
